Born in January 10, 1835
Born in an impoverished low-ranking samurai family of Okudaria Clan.
He was an author, writer, teacher, translator, entrepreneur, and political theorist.
Founder of Keio University.
In 1859, he traveled to San Francisco, California and started studying English.
He started a newspaper called JimShinpo in 1882, where his most contribution came from.
He was very influential and greatly encouraged learning from Western nations.
